Athletics and Academics go hand-in-hand at Molloy College
Are you living a hoop dream? Then our basketball teams will definitely have court appeal to you. Is your batting average impressive? Well, we've got a spot for you on our baseball team. Does cross country get you pumped? The Molloy College cross country team consists of dedicated, competitive, competent runners. We also offer soccer, softball, lacrosse, tennis and volleyball and our equestrian and dance teams are our Lion's Pride.
Intercollegiate athletics are an exciting part of the Molloy College experience. We are a Division II member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association and the East Coast Conference, formerly known as the New York Collegiate Athletic Association.
Our athletic coaches boast gold medal teams from the Empire State Games and our trainers, who are nationally certified, are the best around. The Molloy College Athletic Department is vital and vibrant and contributes to the outstanding reputation of our college. Just this year, two of our athletes were named Academic All-Americans and another was a National Collegiate Athletic Association Post-grad scholarship winner. At Molloy College, our athletes benefit from our truly well-rounded education experience.
Molloy College is proud of its academic accomplishments, as well as those achieved on the playing field - which for lacrosse and soccer home games is on the turf, under the lights, at the Dean Skelos Sports Complex. In fact, 50 percent of our athletes record a Grade Point Average of 3.2. or greater. At Molloy College, we do everything we can to accommodate you as an athlete and a scholar. When scheduling classes, we also take into consideration your training and game schedules.

Athletes & Scholars In 2005, Molloy College history was made when junior centerfielder, Joe
Holden, from Wantagh, N.Y. was drafted by the New York Mets. Holden was picked in the 21st round of the 2005 Major League Baseball first-year player draft.
Holden is the first player in the 14-year history of the baseball program to be drafted.
Holden, also named the Northeast Region Player of the Year and the NYCAC Player of the Year, had an incredible season for the Lions. He hit .390 with 49 runs scored, 16 doubles, three triples, 13 home runs and 50 RBI. Holden had a .744 slugging percentage, a .462 on base percentage, a .973 fielding percentage and stole 14 bases for Molloy. He finished 10th in the NYCAC in batting average, third in hits, first in runs, first in RBI, fourth in triples, first in home runs, first in total bases and third in stolen bases. In the Nation, he finished the season ranked 19th in home runs and 27th in slugging percentage.
