Graduation

Students should make certain their academic records are in proper order at the time they apply for their degree. Students must plan their programs of study to accomplish completion of all their requirements in advance of the desired award date for graduation. Students who are unable for any reason to complete a prescribed course in the regular semester are responsible to complete the course later on. Students should not request a waiver for the course at a subsequent date, nor should students expect the course to be offered at any unusual time to meet their personal convenience.

Undergraduate students who are within 6 credits of meeting their graduation requirements and have filed for August graduation (deadline April 1) will be allowed to participate in graduation ceremonies. They will not be eligible for listings in the commencement brochure or to receive the following:

  • Departmental honors
  • Honors cords (Fourragères)
  • Degree distinction notations in the program

Only students who have completed all requirements for May graduation will be eligible to be listed for these honors. Any exceptions to these procedures must have the written approval of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Refer to the Academic Calendar and Molloy College Catalog for exact dates.

Students who want a name on the diploma that does not appear on our records must submit the Student Information Sheet with appropriate documentation.

Application deadlines
October 1 for December or January graduations
December 1 for May graduation
April 1 for August graduation

In conjunction, with the chairpersons and program directors, the Office of the Registrar reviews progress toward degrees and verifies completion of general education requirements. Diplomas and final transcripts are distributed to students by mail within 30 days of the conferral date. Diplomas and final transcripts will not be released until all financial and/or other obligations are fulfilled.

Special dates are planned for the distribution of caps and gowns, celebrations, commencement rehearsals, hooding and class night, yearbook photographs and ceremonies.
