Biography

Dr. Drew Bogner assumed the presidency of Molloy College in Rockville Centre, New York in July 2000. Before coming to Molloy, Dr. Bogner was Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at Newman University in Wichita, Kansas. Dr. Bogner holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy and History of Education from the University of Kansas.

Under Dr. Bogner's leadership, Molloy College has reframed itself from a predominately Baccalaureate undergraduate institution into a comprehensive, graduate-granting institution, adding 25 new Masters programs and tracks, and the College's first doctoral  program.

Molloy College has rapidly expanded its leadership initiatives in the business and service communities. The College has also seen a renewed and energized spirit of cooperation and communication within the campus community, as each of the College's core constituencies coalesces around one of Molloy's founding principles - Leadership through Service. Under the direction of Dr. Bogner, the College's reputation for quality continues to grow. Molloy College has been recognized nationally by the Princeton Review as one of the top 220 Schools in the Northeast, by U.S.News and World Report as a top tier institution  and recognized thrice in the past six years by the National Collegiate Athletic Association for its outstanding student-athlete graduation rates.

Dr. Bogner is also credited for increasing the College's enrollment. Molloy's enrollment has doubled during Dr. Bogner's tenure, from approximately 2,200 students to approximately 4,500 for fall 2013 (3,400 undergraduate, 1,100 graduate, and 32 doctoral students).

Molloy College has experienced major renovations and modifications to its campus facilities. The recently completed Public Square student center and the College's first residence hall opened in the fall of 2011. The Public Square serves as a student union and houses a variety of classrooms, including 11 acoustically isolated classrooms as well as offices, meeting rooms, the campus book store, and the Madison Theatre (a 550 seat performing arts venue). The residence hall can house up to 156 students. The College also completed a $1.5 million dollar renovation of The Casey Center, including the addition of a business trading room. In fall 2010, the College opened a Speech, Language and Hearing Center to service the community-at-large and offers practical hands-on experience for students majoring in Speech/Language Pathology. In 2005, the College opened The Suffolk Center on Route 110 in Farmingdale. This facility offers undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education courses. Siena Hall was also added to the campus footprint in 2005. In addition to these buildings, campus technology was successfully upgraded and the science labs saw a $2 million renovation.

Under Dr. Bogner's leadership, the College completed its most successful capital campaign in the College's history, having raised $21 million. During his tenure, the College's endowment grew from $2.3 million to $27 million. Molloy College is now in the active phase of its second capital campaign to raise the necessary funds for Phase II of the Campus Facilities Master Plan. Under this plan, the College will build a new academic building, which will be the new home for the division of nursing, as well as a parking garage.

With Dr. Bogner's encouragement, the College developed new academic initiatives and strengthened its foundation programs of Education, Communications, Nursing, Criminal Justice, Music, Social Work and Business. During Dr. Bogner's tenure, the following academic programs have been added: Finance (B.S. degree), Graduate Business (M.B.A. degrees) in Accounting, Management, Finance, and Personal Financial Planning, Dual Degree (B.S./M.S. degree) in Accounting, Management, Finance, and Personal Financial Planning, Graduate Criminal Justice Program (M.S. degree) and Dual Degree (B.A./M.S. degree) in Criminal Justice, Education Post Masters Certificates in Teaching Students with Disabilities in both Childhood and Adolescence and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, Earth Science Adolescence Education (B.S. degree), Graduate Music Therapy (M.S. degree), Speech-Language Pathology (M.S. degree), and in fall 2014 Molloy College plans to launch the B.F.A. program in Theatre Arts registered with Collaborative Arts Project 21, Inc. (CAP21) as the non-degree-granting partner. Additionally, the College's first Ph.D. program (Nursing) welcomed its inaugural cohort of students in fall 2010.

Dr. Bogner has developed a comprehensive collegiate experience for Molloy's students, which includes a well-established Honors Program, an innovative "Freshmen First Year Experience," and an expanded global learning program. In addition, during Dr. Bogner's tenure, the College has seen a 500% increase in student activities with over 30 clubs and organizations. Dr. Bogner strives to foster a commitment among all Molloy students to transform their communities by becoming active citizens who lead through their service to others.

As a professor, Dr. Bogner is active in the classroom (teaching Japanese History) and has traveled with the students to Japan, where they immersed themselves in Japanese culture. He also co-authored his first book, Teaching and Learning: A Model for Academic and Social Cognition, published by Rowman and Littlefield.

In 2005, Dr. Bogner launched the Energeia Partnership, the Academy for Regional Stewardship of Long Island. This Academy is dedicated to identifying and addressing the serious, complex and multidimensional issues challenging Long Island. In addition, the Sustainability Institute, introduced in 2009, "serves as a core resource on environmental excellence" and has brought awareness of sustainable initiatives to the forefront on Long Island since its inception.

Molloy College's television programming on Telecare continues to reach a wide audience. Past shows include "Next Generation," a program geared at young people on Long Island and hosted by Dr. Bogner, and "Molloy Presents," a series that broadcasted some of our significant on-campus events. Our newest program, Public Square 2.0, provides an outlet for educating, enlightening, and engaging the Long Island Community in regional, national, and international topics that are timely in nature.

Dr. Bogner and his wife, Karen, reside in Rockville Centre, New York and have two children, Ryan and Lindsay.
