Scenic Routes, July 2012

The fledgling Frank and Gertrude Kaiser Art Gallery at Molloy College in Rockville Centre presents Scenic Routes, a collection of work by five mentor artists and their less established counterparts. The exhibition, curated by Evan ReehlRyer, is the second for the gallery's Artists Choose Artists program and includes pieces in various styles and media by Ryer, Melissa Armstrong, JennBrehm, Katie Cercone, Lauren Comito, Brent Owens, Zachary Seeger, Elisa de la Huerta and Dustin Sparks.

The mentor/protégé teams worked together and the results from both the established and emerging artists are on view. Scenic Routes features everything from Comito's sculptural video installation "The Bridge Moving Over the Landscape," to de la Huerta's fabric and drawing collage on pillowcase entitled "Bybam," Ryer's rough, oil-stick pieces and digital art by Sparks. Open through July 26, the exhibition is funded by the NYS Council on the Arts and will eventually travel to another venue.
