Molloy College graduate pitcher Megan ButterworthRecent graduate Megan Butterworth, a four-year standout pitcher for the Molloy College softball team, added more decoration to her stellar resume Thursday, as she received the East Coast Conference's nomination for the NCAA Woman of the Year award. The accolade, which will be presented in the fall, is bestowed annually to a female student-athlete, who showcases achievement for women as leaders. In the circle, Butterworth saved the best for last, posting superb numbers in 2013. She was 28-7 (13 shutouts) over 38 appearances with 279 strikeouts and a 1.29 earned-run average. The North Bellmore product also collected one save, and limited opposing hitters to a batting average against of .191.

Butterworth was no stranger to claiming praise for her efforts as well. This season, the southpaw was named the ECC and Daktronics East Region Pitcher of the Year. Plus, she garnered NFCA and Daktronics All-America second-team kudos, while receiving All-Region first-team honors from the same two organizations.

For her career, Butterworth finished with a lifetime record of 90-26, alongside a 1.59 ERA and 948 K's. Amongst the program's all-time leaders, she paces the pack in four categories (innings pitched, wins, games started, shutouts), and ranks second in five others (strikeouts, strikeouts per seven innings, complete games, appearances, earned-run average).
