Department of Athletics Raises over $4,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation
November 19, 2012
As part of a spectacular fundraising campaign, the Molloy College Department of Athletics raised a total of $4,546 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in 2011-12, ranking 18th amongst all schools in Division II.
In total, 204 Division II schools and offices across 23 conferences made over $347,000 for Make-A-Wish. The East Coast Conference totaled $17,701.10 in donations, which was ninth-best among Division II conferences. Meanwhile, Molloy raised the second-most money in the ECC, behind Dowling College. St. Thomas Aquinas College and New York Institute of Technology also donated over $600 each.
Throughout the year, Molloy student-athletes manned concession stands outside home games at Quealy Gymnasium and the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex. All of the money earned from concessions was donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
"In a continued effort to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the student-athletes, coaches and staff here at Molloy work tirelessly to raise funds for this extraordinary organization," said Associate Director of Athletics Jason Trufant. "The Molloy College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has made a commitment to making sure the Make-A-Wish foundation is a priority on campus. Our student-athletes should be proud of their efforts both within the conference and nationally."
Molloy continues its support for Make-A-Wish in 2012-13 by selling charitable stars at home games for two dollars each.
