Father Gabriel Muteru, Ph.D., who has lived and worked within the Diocese of Rockville Centre since 2002, has been selected as the Chaplain for Molloy College. During the last eight years he has served as Associate Pastor for a number of churches within the Diocese including: St. Thomas Moore in Hauppauge, St. Joseph's in Garden City and Queen of the Most Holy Rosary in Roosevelt.
A native of Kenya, Father Muteru became a naturalized American citizen in 2006. He holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from the New School of Social Research, an M.A. in philosophy from Fordham University and a B.A. in Theology from Urbanian University in Rome. For the past several years, Father Muteru has been an adjunct assistant professor of philosophy at St. John's University in Queens.
In his letter of application, Father Muteru stated "As Chaplain, devoted to pastoral presence, I will strive in word and action to embody the mission statement of Molloy College in its Catholic faith and its Dominican charism."
"We are thrilled Father Muteru is joining the Molloy College family," said Molloy President Drew Bogner, Ph.D. "We eagerly welcome his teachings, guidance and spiritual leadership --all of which will be invaluable assets for the entire Community."
