Academic All-Americans for two at Molloy College
For the first time in 11 years, the Molloy College softball team had at least one athlete picked to the CoSIDA Academic All-America squad. Senior pitcher Megan Butterworth landed on the second-team, while junior shortstop Nicolette Sinagra claimed third-team recognition. The Lions' last CoSIDA Academic All-America selection was former standout Michelle Martini who earned the honor in 2002.
In the circle, Butterworth, the East Coast Conference and Daktronics East Region Pitcher of the Year, owns a record of 28-5 with a 1.05 earned-run average, both of which rank in the Top-10 in the country, and 264 strikeouts. She has also posted 13 shutouts (3rd - NCAA Division II), and limited the opposition to a batting average against of .186.

Off the field, Butterworth presently sports a 3.70 cumulative grade-point average in Secondary Education.
Sinagra, a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree in back-to-back seasons (2012 & 2013), is hitting at a team-leading .370 average with four home runs and 37 RBI. Her .566 slugging clip is tops on the maroon and white as well. Plus, the Brooklyn product has totaled 43 runs scored, 13 doubles, 11 stolen bases and nine triples (2nd - NCAA) in 64 contests.
In the classroom, Sinagra has compiled a 3.89 GPA thus far. She majors in Speech-Language Pathology.
