Media (DVD/VHS) is located at the second Patron Services access point on the first floor the library within Periodicals/Interlibrary Loan/Reserves/Media area.There is no charge to use media, but there are fines and fees for media returned late or lost.Any overdue fines or fees associated with the loss of library materials are the responsibility of the cardholder.

The media collection is available to faculty members, students, administrators and staff of Molloy College.

There are currently four categories:

·         Media Circulating-See Circulating Collections

          Media Popular (For faculty and students who wish to check out videos from the library.)

·         Faculty Media Desk (For faculty who wish to take DVD/VHS materials to their classrooms.)Faculty will need to complete the online Media Hold Request Form

·         Media Reserve (For faculty who wish to place media on reserve.)Faculty will need to complete the online Reserve Request Form- See Reserves

A valid Molloy ID card is required every time to check out any media materials.Patrons without a valid Molloy ID card will not be permitted to take items from the second Patron Services access point on the first floor the library within the Periodicals/Interlibrary Loan/Reserves/Media area. 

Please be advised that there is an overnight activation period before being able to use the new ID card in the Library.This means that library patrons will be unable to access any physical reserve materials.Databases and E-Reserves, however, may be accessed immediately on or off campus.

ID cards may be obtained at the Public Safety, 516.323.3574.

These materials can be found in the Molloy Catalog and are shelved by Library of Congress call numbers.

To view the media collection in the library, patrons can purchase headphones for one dollar if they do not already have them.These materials can be viewed at the following places within the library:

The Tobin Media Viewing Area is located on the first floor of the library to the left of the main reference of the library.

·         Library Instruction Room on the first floor of the library, outside of and to the right of Periodicals/Interlibrary Loan/Reserves/Media area.The Library Instruction Room is primarily used for Library Instruction sessions.This room is available for patron use unless a library instruction session is in progress.If room is unavailable please see library personnel for assistance.

·         Library Instruction Room/Catholic Studies Collection on the second floor of the library.The Library Instruction Rooms are primarily used for Library Instruction sessions.  This room is available for patron use unless a library instruction session is in progress.If room is unavailable please see library personnel for assistance.

Media Popular                     

This means media materials to check out of the library for specific time limits- For more details, see table below.

Media popular DVD cases located in the display carousel in the Media Viewing Area on the first floor of the library adjacent and to the left of the main reference area. To obtain the DVDs, faculty members, students, administrators and staff of Molloy College will need to bring the cases to the Patron Services Area.

The media popular DVD collection is available to faculty members, students, administrators and staff of Molloy College and there is no charge to use this collection.  However, there are fine and fees for media popular materials that are returned late or lost. Any overdue fines or fees associated with the loss of library materials are the responsibility of cardholder.

Payment for fines and lost materials can be made in cash or check.  If paid by check, library account will not be cleared for seven business days.

In the case of extreme delinquency, the Bursar will place a "Hold" on the student's account, which would impact their ability to register for future classes and/or receive a diploma upon graduation.  Payment for fines and lost materials must be made in CASH ONLY to obtain an immediate release form.

Once a library patron has reached $10.00 in unpaid fines, borrowing privileges will be suspended.  Borrowing privileges will immediately resume once fines have been paid.

Any overdue fines or fees associated with the loss of library materials are the responsibility of cardholder.


Faculty Media Desk

For faculty who wish to take DVD/VHS materials to their classrooms.Faculty will need to complete the online Media Hold Request Form which can be completed up to one month in advance.

Faculty Media Desk is located at the second Patron Services access point on the first floor the library within Periodicals/Interlibrary Loan/Reserves/Media area.

Faculty Media Desk materials will be available for pick up by the faculty member at the secondary patron access area on the first floor of the library within Periodicals/Interlibrary Loan/Reserves/Media.Signage within the library will direct you to this area.

The Faculty Media Desk is limited to faculty members of Molloy College and there is no charge to use this collection.However, there are fine and fees for media circulating materials that are returned late or lost.Any overdue fines or fees associated with the loss of library materials are the responsibility of cardholder.
