The New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (NYS-OASAS) provides the requirements for the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC/CASAC-T) certification. Molloy has been approved to offer the new CASAC 350-Hour Standardized Curriculum.

The goal of the program is to prepare Radiologic Technologists, Nuclear Medicine Technologists and Radiation Therapy Technologists to sit for and pass the ARRT exam in Computed Tomography.   Course curricula and clinical competency follow the guidelines established by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.  The curriculum also corresponds with all of the requirements set forth by the NMTCB for their CT specific exam.

Introduces the essential concepts and procedures involved in performing and interpreting electrocardiograms (EKGs); begins with an overview of heart anatomy and physiology before moving into the operation of EKG technology.

Medical assistants perform administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. Assistants work directly with patients, whether in small or large healthcare settings, to ensure that patients receive the care they need while providing health professionals with vital patient information. As an essential part of the healthcare team, a medical assistant is responsible for obtaining general health data and performing a variety of back and front office duties. 

Molloy's Medical Assisting Certification program provides you with the tools necessary to become a medical assistant. You will develop skills in the clinical and administrative aspects of the medical office. In our program, you can gain the entry-level skills necessary to be competitive in the workforce.

The DRG (MS DRG and APR DRG) validation is to verify that all diagnoses and procedure codes were coded appropriately in accordance with official coding guidelines and were consistent with the documentation in the medical record resulting in accurate DRG assignment and reimbursement. This review validates all data elements that affect the DRG assignment. Coding validation is the process of verifying that codes were billed and sequenced in accordance with coding guidelines. Clinical validation is an additional process, and is performed in addition to the coding validation review. Clinical validation verifies that the diagnoses coded were actually present based on the clinical documentation in the medical record, and the results of related diagnostic testing were consistent with the diagnoses. In cases in which there is a conflict between the diagnosis coded, and the associated clinical indicators for that condition, the diagnosis will be removed from the grouping which may result in assignment of a DRG that more appropriately reflects the medical documentation. The purpose of the DRG validation review is to validate the principal and secondary diagnoses to ensure all diagnoses were billed appropriately, supported in the medical record, and billed according to official coding guidelines. Validate that the clinical documentation and results of diagnostic testing support the diagnoses and all procedure codes to ensure they were coded accurately according to official coding guidelines, and are supported by the documentation in the medical record. Verify the discharge status code and all other data elements affecting the DRG assignment; and verify diagnoses identified as HAC's were coded with the correct POA indicator.

 MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING PROGRAM: REGISTRY PREP AND REVIEW

The goal of the program is to prepare Radiologic Technologists, Nuclear Medicine Technologists, Radiation Therapy Technologists and other Licensed Imaging Technologists to sit for and pass the ARRT exam in Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Course curricula and clinical competency (at your place of employment or clinical affiliate) follow the guidelines established by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Course Objective – The objective of this ASRT approved 87.5 CEU Category A credit course is to prepare certified technologists for the successful completion of the post primary examination in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). The curriculum has been developed to provide the student with the cognitive skills necessary for entry-level technologists to practice in the field of Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Part I of the course will include: Basic Physics of Magnetism, Image Formation, Pulse Sequences, and Equipment operations. Part II of the course will include: Patient care, MRI safety, Cross sectional anatomy, data acquisition, image display and post processing of all imaging procedures, quality control, informatics, contrast media, and MRI Artifacts. Students are required to pass the program with a minimum of a 75% grade point average and will receive the ASRT approved 87.5 CEU credits if they attend the entire didactic program. Attendance is mandatory for CEU credits. To qualify and complete all of the board requirements, Students will be required to meet all supervised clinical competency standards (at participating facilities or at your own place of employment) to be eligible for the ARRT exam. These clinical requirements can be achieved in concert or after the didactic course. The didactic course will be taught Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-9:30pm, every Spring semester following the Molloy College 14-week academic schedule at Molloy's Rockville Centre campus. Textbooks are highly recommended.

This course is an introduction to the interpretation of 12 lead EKG for the practicing nurse in the primary or acute care practice. Included in this discussion is the role of the advanced practice nurse in assessment and management of the client with chest pain and left ventricular hypertrophy utilizing a case study approach. Topics included are recognition of patterns of infarction, axis deviation, chamber hypertrophy, and bundle branch blocks. Students should have a basic understanding of cardiac arrhythmias and the cardiac cycle.

This is a 2-day course from 9 am-4 pm. The first day will be synchronous learning via Zoom. The following week will be in person, with a 3-hour didactic session followed by a 3.5-hour hands-on skills session, including a full review of physical assessment.This comprehensive review course is designed to prepare nurse practitioner students and recent graduates for national certification examinations and to reinforce essential knowledge for advanced practice. Participants will review physical assessment findings, patient management strategies, common disease processes, signs and symptoms, pharmacologic therapies, and evidence-based treatment guidelines through interactive case studies.Additional topics include interpretation of normal and abnormal laboratory values, appropriate clinical interventions, scope of practice, legal and ethical considerations, and test-taking strategies. This course provides a focused review of the clinical concepts and certification content needed to promote success on the certification examination and confidence in nurse practitioner practice.

This workshop will discuss and demonstrate different injection routes and proper placement/landmarks. Reconstitution of medication with administration included in hands-on skills utilizes the newest infusion pumps. Tubing management and piggyback infusions with gravity and pumps. Central venous access devices management, peripheral IV dressing changes.

Pharmacy technicians keep medications moving safely from prescription to patient. Working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, they enter and fill prescriptions, prepare and compound medications, manage inventory, resolve billing and insurance questions, and are often the first person a patient talks to.

The career reaches well beyond the neighborhood drugstore. Certified Pharmacy Technicians (CPhTs) work in:

• Community pharmacies: retail chains, independent pharmacies and clinic- or practice-based pharmacies

• Specialty pharmacy: compounding, fertility and nuclear pharmacy
• Industry: wholesalers, distributors, manufacturers and pharmaceutical sales

In a community pharmacy, technicians take in prescriptions by e-prescribing, phone, fax and drop-off; select, measure, count, package and label medications; keep patient profiles current, including allergies and insurance; process claims and work through formulary restrictions; order, receive and return stock, including controlled substances; and advocate for patients while protecting their privacy under HIPAA. Experienced technicians move into lead roles or specialize through PTCB’s advanced credentials, such as the Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) and Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT-Adv).

Molloy University’s PTCB-Recognized program prepares you for that range of roles through 80 hours of live online instruction on Saturdays, taught exclusively by Doctors of Pharmacy and Certified Pharmacy Technicians, with an optional 40-hour externship. Graduates are eligible to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE), the national exam for the CPhT credential. No medical background is needed.
