Registration & Records
- I have not been in school for a while now, where do I begin? How do I know if I am taking the right course for me? What course should I take first?
Should a course require experience in a certain field, or enrollment in a previous class, this will be clearly marked in both the printed and online Continuing Education catalog. If you are unsure of what to take first, or how to take a series of classes, feel free to contact our office and ask questions. A Continuing Education representative will be happy to assist you.
- Do I need a transcript from my old school?
No. Our courses are open to the general public. If you are looking to waive a particular course, provide our office with a copy of your transcript and a written request. There is no guarantee that your course will be waived. Some topics require testing in addition to documentation. - Is academic advisement available?
Academic advisement regarding the non-credit course offerings and certificate programs is available by appointment. If you would like to schedule an advisement session with a Division of Continuing Education and Professional Development representative, contact our office directly at

- How do I register for a course?
In-Person Registration
Continuous registration is available at the office of the Division of Continuing Education & Professional Development.Simply visit our office during business hours to register for your course.
Mail Registration
To register by mail, fill out the registration form and mail it with your check, money order, or credit card information to the following:

For your convenience, holders of MasterCard or VISA may register for non-credit courses by telephone. Simply call our office at 1(800) 229 - 1020 ext. 6206 or (516) 678-5000 ext. 6206. Have your credit card number available.
Fax Registration
Complete the registration form. Make sure to include your credit card information (MasterCard or VISA) and fax it to our office at (516) 256 - 2233.

- When should I register for courses?
To avoid course closings and/or course cancellations, we recommend that you register for courses as early as possible.
- If the course you want is already full, you can add your name to the waitlist. We also recommend that you sign up for the next available section since the waitlist gives no guarantee of availability.
- On rare occasions, one of our courses will not have enough students registered, and we will have to cancel the course. The decision to cancel a course is usually made about one week before the class is scheduled to start.
Waiting to register until a few days before the course is scheduled to begin could cause unnecessary cancellations.
What is my student ID number?
Your student ID number is usually your Social Security number, which is used when registering online.
Do I have to use my Social Security number as my student ID number?
No, you do not have to use your Social Security number as your student ID number. Our system will automatically generate a student ID number should you decide not to use your Social Security number.
- How do I know that I am officially registered for a course?
Once your registration is received and processed by our office, a course confirmation will be mailed. If you have registered for a course and have not received your confirmation within one week, contact our office..
- How do I withdraw from a course?
If you need to withdraw from a course, the Division of Continuing Education & Professional Development business office must receive notice of withdrawal, no later than 48 hours prior to the beginning of the course. You can reach our offices via telephone at (516) 678 – 5000 ext. 6206. Non-attendance of classes does not entitle student to a refund.
Classes and Schedules
- When are the courses offered?
Our schedule is designed to be flexible for the adult student.
At Molloy College you may choose to attend classes on as many evenings or weekends as your time permits. Some classes are also held during the day.
Please note: after each course description a Section (Sect.) letter is listed. Choose one of those sections, whichever day and time is most convenient for you. If you need help scheduling your courses, contact our office.

- How many students are in a class?
Molloy College believes that its students benefit from faculty and student interaction. Class space is limited. Registrations are processed in the order that they are received. It is adv isable to register as soon as possible to avoid being closed out of a course. If there is not sufficient enrollment one week or less prior to the scheduled beginning of a class, the course may be cancelled.
- How do I find out where my course is meeting?
Classroom assignments may be listed on the course confirmation that you will receive in the mail, after you register. Room assignments are also posted on a bulletin board outside the office in Siena Hall, Room 106. NOTE: Room assignments for computer courses (computer labs) are noted in the course catalog next to the section of the course in which you are registered.
- Will I need to purchase additional materials and/or textbooks?
This varies by course. If your course requires additional materials, a textbook and/or handouts, this information will be indicated within the course description and during the first class meeting. Textbooks are for sale in the Molloy College Bookstore located in the Wilbur Arts Center, Main Level. The bookstore hours are usually Monday, Thursday, Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. , Tuesday, Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. The bookstore can be reached at (516) 678-5000 ext. 6250. For courses that require handouts, they will be available for purchase from the instructor during the first class meeting.
- At the end of many of the course descriptions, it mentions something about CEU's. What is a CEU?
CEUs are measures of hourly participation in qualified programs of non-credit Continuing Education and are nationally recognized. Molloy College Division of Continuing Education and Professional Development will award CEUs where indicated. One Continuing Education Unit usually equals 10 class hours of participation. For example a 12-hour course is equivalent to 1.2 CEU's. Some associations recognize attendance by a different method. If in doubt, contact your association or call for information.
- Why might a course be cancelled by Continuing Education?
Molloy College reserves the right to cancel a course due to insufficient enrollment. Should we cancel a course, a full refund will be granted. Every effort is made to notify students of a course cancellation or change of schedule in advance.
Students are encouraged to register early to secure a place in the courses of their choice, and to help ensure the course's success.
- My course schedule was changed and the new schedule doesn't work for me. Can I get a refund?
Yes, when course schedules are changed for any reason, students may transfer to another course or section, or receive a full refund. Molloy College reserves the right to modify or withdraw any course offering.
- Do Continuing Education schedule courses following the “regular” school holiday schedule?
No, our courses are usually scheduled around the Molloy College Academic Calendar; HOWEVER, we will sometimes run courses even though the College and/or College offices are closed. Consult individual course descriptions for no-class dates.
- How do I get an official transcript of all the courses that I have attended through Continuing Education?
Complete transcripts of all your classes are available for a fee of $10. Send your transcript request with your $10 check, payable to Molloy College. Address it to the attention of the Division of Continuing Education. A record of attendance is not available after five years of the date of attendance.*
*Exceptions: Infection Control, Training of Identification of Child Abuse and Real Estate course attendance are not available after seven years of the date of attendance.
- I've misplaced my certificate of completion for a course that I attended. Can I get a duplicate copy?
Yes, to receive a duplicate copy of record of attendance/certificate for a non-credit course a fee of $10 is required.* Send your duplicate copy request with your check to the Division of Continuing Education.
*Exceptions: To receive a duplicate copy of record of attendance/certificate for Infection Control, Training of Identification of Child Abuse and Real Estate a fee of $5 is required.
- How long do you hold onto attendance records?
The Division of Continuing Education will hold a record of attendance for approximately five years*.
*Exceptions: Infection Control, Training of Identification of Child Abuse and Real Estate course attendance are available up to seven years of the date of attendance.
- What is the difference between a certificate and a certification?
A certificate program is an extensive course, or series of courses, designed to prepare you for a specific function. A certification is a recognized credential that confirms your ability in a particular area. Certifications are often offered through professional organizations and usually require passing an exam or series of exams. Some of the certificate programs that we offer prepare you for a specific certification exam.
Tuition Information & Financial Assistance
- When is payment due for a course?
Payment i s due at time of registration, however, purchase orders will also be accepted.
- How is tuition to be paid?
The amount of tuition is indicated next to each course description. Cash, money order, check and credit card (MasterCard or VISA) are acceptable forms of payment. Make checks payable to Molloy College. There are no registration fees – tuition is all you pay.
- Are there any discounts available?
Yes*, the following discounts apply to Continuing Education courses. Only one discount may be used for a course.
- Senior Citizens (62+ proof of age required at time of registration) 10%
- Molloy College Alumni 10%
- Employees of the Diocesan Center 10%
- North Shore/Long Island Jewish Health Care System Employees10%
- Mercy Hospital Employees 25%
- Members of the Molloy Institute for Lifelong Learning (MILL) 25%
*Discount Exceptions: No discounts granted for SAT Prep, Regents Review, one day workshops or on any course $35 or less.
Upon registration, you must inform and provide proof to this office of the discount that you are entitled to.
- Is financial aid available for Continuing Education courses?
Since most Continuing Education courses do not lead to a college degree, they are not eligible for the traditional forms of financial aid, such as TAP and/or Pell. Some private lenders will help you finance continuing education and certificate programs.
SLM Loans
Continuing Education loans to cover tuition and expenses are available to those who qualify from SLM Financial, a Sallie Mae Company.The SLM Financial Career Training Loan has been designed specifically to help you finance your education and offers hundreds of dollars in savings over other financing options. It can be used for continuing education programs to cover the total cost of education and certain related expenses. The loan is geared to your success and we've made it easy to get approval. The process is fast and acceptance rates are high - about 70 percent. Loans are available from $1,000 and up. To apply for an SLM loan:
- Enroll in the course(s) of your choice and indicate on the registration form that you are applying for a student loan.
- Complete the Career Training Loan by downloading a form at SLM Education Loans (under Career Training Loans).You may also call SLM Financial at 1-888-2-SALLIE.
- When applying use Ann McTigue as the contact name at the school and reference School Code: 607139.
SLM Financial will process your application and notify our office of your loan status. All loan information must be processed at least two weeks prior to the start of class.If you should have any questions regarding the loan process, contact Ann McTigue at amctigue@molloy.edu or at (516) 678-5000 ext. 6602.
Displaced Homemakers and/or Dislocated Workers
If you are a displaced homemaker and/or a dislocated worker, you may qualify for retraining funds. Contact your local One Stop Employment Center or inquire with your local Department of Labor office to see if you qualify for services. For more information, click here.
VESID
If you have a documented disability, contact your local VESID (Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities) office to find out if you meet their criteria and qualify for services. For more information, click here.
Veterans
If you are a veteran or a dependant of a veteran and have applied for Education benefits with the VA, the following programs are approved for veterans education benefits: Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), Management Certificate Program, Computer Applications, Computer Graphics, Financial Planning, Property & Casualty, Real Estate Salesperson, Medical Records).
If you have applied for VA benefits inform our office at time of registration. We must “certify your enrollment” in order for you to be reimbursed by the Department of Veterans Affairs. If you are not sure whether you qualify and/or for how much of an education benefit you are entitled to, contact the Department of Veterans Affairs at 1-888-GI BILL 1, or click here to visit their Web site.
- My company is paying for this course. Can you invoice them directly?
Yes. Please provide us with your company's purchase order, educational voucher or documentation on company letterhead stating that they are responsible for payment along with the registration form and we will process an invoice directly to your company.
- What is your refund policy?
If you withdraw from a course prior to the beginning of the course, a full refund is generally granted (See below for exceptions). Non-attendance does not constitute a withdrawal.
After the first session, refunds will be made in accordance with the following schedule:
Prior to the start of the 2nd session ……………….. 80% refund
After the 2nd session …………………………………. No refund
During the first hour of class, the instructor will present an outline of the course, along with the course goals and objectives. If the student does not feel that this course will meet their expectations, then a full refund will be granted if the student presents their refund request on the first business day after the class has met.
No refunds will be granted on a one or two-day course after the course has been completed, however a tuition credit may be granted.
The refund policy for certain certificate and professional programs, such as nursing, is on a program-by-program basis. Consult the individual program description for details.
Notice of withdrawal must be made directly to a representative of the Division of Continuing Education & Professional Development either by phone, fax, or in-person.
Campus Facilities, Location, Parking and Office Hours
- What is the campus like? Where is your office located on campus?
If you've never been to Molloy College, you are in for a pleasant surprise!
Our campus is small and easily accessible. We are located in Rockville Centre, on Long Island. The Division of Continuing Education offices are located in Siena Hall, Room 106. Click here for a detailed map of the campus.
- I've never been to your campus. How do I get there?

- What are your business hours?
Current business hours are: Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. –
7 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. You may stop in anytime during regular business hours to register for courses. Starting in July, our offices are closed on Fridays & Saturdays.
- Is food service available?
Food service is available in the following locations:
Mane Street Café, located in the Wilbur Arts Center is - Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., Friday, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m. – 0 p.m. Summer hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. (closed Friday & Saturday).
The Anselma Room, located in Kellenberg Building , is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. , Friday, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. The Anselma Room is closed during summer semesters.
Vending machines are available in the lower levels of the Kellenberg and Wilbur buildings and on the first floor of the Casey building.
- As a continuing education student, can I use the library facilities?
Continuing Education students must pick up a library card from the Division of Continuing Education to use the library at Molloy College. Most textbooks are available on reserve in the library. Media can only be used during the weeks that the student is taking classes and is enrolled in the relevant course at Molloy College . Contact the James E. Tobin Memorial Library for hours, 516-678-5000 extension 6234.
- Do I need a parking sticker?
Yes, a parking permit is required. The course confirmation notice that is mailed to you, upon receipt of your registration, will instruct you on how to obtain a parking permit. Prior to the start of your course, please take this document to the Security Desk located on the main level of the Kellenberg building. They will issue you a parking permit. Please read the parking regulations that are attached to your parking permit. There are no parking fees. Please Note: A parking permit is not required for one session courses/workshops.
- What kind of security services does the College provide?
Molloy College has an extensive 24-hour security system. The parking lot is well lighted and observed by patrol and TV surveillance.
If a student wants a Molloy Security Guard to escort her/him to her/his car during evening hours, use the following procedure:
- Kellenberg before 10 p.m. – go to the Security Desk at the North main door of Kellenberg Hall.
- Kellenberg after 10 .pm. – use the intercom located outside the Switchboard office or on every floor of every building.
- Wilbur and Casey Center – use the intercom located in the main lobby.
How to use the intercom – While pressing the red button, speak into the intercom and ask for security. Release the red button to hear security's response. Again depress the red button to give your location and your request.
Career Opportunities and Prospective Employers
- Do you provide job placement?
At Molloy College, our main focus is on training. We do not offer formal job placement or career counseling services for Continuing Education students.
We do,occasionally, receive requests from the community seeking to hire our students in various positions. “Help Wanted” advertisements are displayed on a job bulletin boa rd located opposite our office in Siena Hall, Room 106.
