Eldercare and Gerontology

Statistics show we are an aging society. To help address this national issue, on a local level, many Long Island agencies are providing services specific to the elderly client. These services offer assistance to enhance one’s lifestyle and encourage an independent way of life.

In an effort to help the community understand the many issues related to aging, Molloy College offers two continuing education courses that will explore the many aspects of elder lifestyle and elder care, click on the program title for further information:

  • Elder Studies Certificate Program is designed for people who would a career in the field of gerontology. The program is offered in the evenings for 10 weeks every fall (October – December) and every spring (March – May)
  • Elder Care Forum is a program designed for the lay person who would like to know more about meeting the challenges of aging on Long Island. The forum is offered on a Saturday morning at Molloy’s Suffolk Center in East Farmingdale, every Fall and Spring.
Each course uses a team-taught approach and explores topics from the perspective of the elderly client as well as the caregiver.
