Perkins Loan Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Counsel students and parents on all aspects of aid programs and financing options

  • Responsible for overseeing the Perkins Loan program at Molloy College

  • Responsible to monitor the college five collection agencies for student Perkins Loan accounts

  • Creates and maintain accurate Perkin Loan files, and update all loan transactions electronically via Perkins Loan

  • Services ACS and the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) reporting

  • Responsible for minimizing bad debt exposure on Perkins Loan past due accounts

  • Responsible to maintain all sources of communication with students for repayment, past due accounts, loan forgiveness, and submissions to collection agencies, and credit bureaus.

  • Monitor students Perkin accounts for account write offs, deferments, forbearances, and demographic information changes.

  • Provide all required Perkins Loan documentation to student at time of graduation, and withdrawal

  • Responsible for completion of Perkins Loan Entrance and Exit Counseling

  • Responsible for monitoring Perkins cohort rate and default rates

  • Assist students in completing Perkins Loan consolidation applications and Consumer verification Disputes

  • Responsible for monitoring Perkins cohort rate and default rates

  • Assist the Director with the Perkins participation application process for the Fiscal Operation report (FISAP)

  • Assist with office phone and office counter hours

  • Participate in workshops, open houses, conferences, and orientation meetings both on and off campus

  • Other duties and projects as required and assigned by Director

Desired Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with Perkins and all other federal financial aid programs and regulations required for this position

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a diverse dynamic team of professionals

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Some weekend and evening hours required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Knowledge of Jenzabar, PowerFaids, and other related financial aid software preferred
