Mathematics Faculty Position

Position: Full Time tenure track position - Mathematics

The Mathematics and Computer Studies Department of Molloy College is seeking one full-time faculty member for a tenure track appointment which starts September, 2012.
Molloy College is an independent institution recently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as an outstanding comprehensive college. Located in suburban Rockville Center, Long Island, Molloy is about 40 minutes from New York City. With approximately 4000 students, the College emphasizes small class size and personal attention.

Responsibilities:

Dedicated, effective teaching is the primary responsibility; the 12-credit per semester teaching load includes both introductory and advanced mathematics courses (day and evening classes). In addition, the successful candidate will provide academic advisement to students from the Childhood Mathematics Education, Adolescent Mathematics Education, and Mathematics programs. Other responsibilities include collaboration on departmental activities, a willingness to serve on college wide committees, as well as continued scholarly activity and professional development.


Requirements:


The position requires a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a Doctorate in Mathematics Education with at least a Master's degree in Mathematics. Consideration will be given to an advanced doctoral candidate. College teaching experience and a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and scholarship required. Candidates with backgrounds in statistics or mathematics education are preferred, although backgrounds in all fields of the mathematical sciences will be considered.
