Clinical Psychologist

The Center for Autism and Child Development (CACD), located at The Rebecca Center for Music Therapy at Molloy College,  is  a multidisciplinary community based program for children and adults with Neurdevelopmental Disorders (i.e. autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and other developmental and emotional challenges) dedicated to empowering parents and professionals to implement intensive, developmental relationship-based interventions for young children and adults with Neurodevelopment Disorders in the most effective and efficient way. The CACD will support and develop treatment protocols under the guiding principles and philosophy of the (DIR®)/Floor timeTM Model- a developmentally based approach that is used as the foundation for a comprehensive intervention approach, focusing on helping children with developmental and emotional challenges build healthy foundations for social, emotional, and intellectual capacities. In addition to providing on-site services, we are committed to creating a bridge between home and the CACD. The Center becomes partners with each of our families in order to create a therapeutic environment to meet the needs of each individual family. To that end, the purpose of the CACD is be multifaceted, and will provide: clinical services, family support, community awareness, research, and education and training. Our clinical team consists of: Music Therapy, Speech Therapy, Nursing, Social Work, Psychology and Education.

Qualifications:

  • NYS Licensed clinical psychologist
  • Degree required: PsyD or Ph.D
  • 3-5 years of clinical & supervisory experience working children with ASDs
  • Knowledge and basic understanding Music Therapy
  • Understanding of the DIR/Floor Time Model
  • Expertise in the understanding of child development (social-emotional development)
  • Extensive understanding of autism treatment models (i.e. ABA, TEACH, etc.)
  • Experienced and qualified to administer the ADOS and ADR-I
  • Experienced in Research development with children with neurodevelopment disorders of relating and communicating, including PDD, down's syndrome, etc.
  • Experienced in starting and developing programs
  • Excellent communication & written skills
  • Experienced in supervising interns and practicum students
  • Developing, managing and coordinating treatment plans (in the clinic and home-based)
  • Organizational skills, and the ability to be a team player is a must
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Experienced in conducting therapy groups with parents of children with ASDs
  • Experienced in conducting 1:1 and group therapy sessions with children (social & play groups)
  •  Wide knowledge base across disciplines (i.e. speech therapy, occupational therapy, music therapy, etc.)

Responsibilities:

Assessment and Treatment Planning:

  • Initial Contact with families
  • Implanting all intakes and Assessment for Treatment
  • Treatment Coordination

Clinical Services:

  • Direct services to the client with Autism Family Support
  •  Parents Individually
  •  Parenting Dyad
  •  Parent Support Groups
  •  Siblings Individually
  •  Sibling Support Groups
  • Training, Work closely with Director to create and Implement ongoing staff training

Research:

  •  Supervise and Coordinate Research Projects at the Center in consultation with director and staff

Hours:

Part-Time, 20 Hours per week from 1:00PM - 6:00PM Tuesday through Friday.
