
Associate Network Administrator
DEPARTMENT: Information Technology, Planning and Research
REPORTS TO: Director of Networking Services
OVERVIEW: The IT Operations / Phone Technician is responsible for handling the day to day operations of the college's phone system including the hardware, software. The position also includes assisting the Director of Networking Services with various tasks. This includes, but is not limited to, identifying problems and taking corrective action to solve such problems, managing projects given by the Director and communicating progress of such projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs daily operations of college's phone system including moves, adds and changes also daily network functions from adding new hardware such as computers, printers and switches to troubleshooting network connectivity issues.
2. Manages the College's Phone Systems, both our legacy NEC 2000,2400 & new Cisco Call Manager, also manage Cell phone connectivity for the college.
3. Manages College's Symantec Anti-Virus System against viruses and malware.
4. Ensures production levels are maintained according to schedules and requirements, such as making sure software is at the current revision {WSUS}
5. Monitors and manages the overall effectiveness of computer networking with Network Director.
6. Monitors operational policies for unauthorized usage.
7. Analyzes phone system and network hardware and software activity, and takes corrective action when necessary.
8. Daily monitors physical environment of all IT locations to ensure standards are met, such as temperature, dust, wiring, ect.
9. Works with both hardware and software vendors on researching needed items, getting quotes, and getting items delivered to the college.
10. Schedules time for installation of new phone and network hardware/software with staff, vendors, and management.
11. Assists in capacity planning, and makes recommendations to Director, such as documenting the need to expand phone or network services.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
13. On call for emergencies during off hours.
Qualifications: Strong Working knowledge of Windows Server, PC, Apple, & Android operating systems and Windows based programs such as, MSOffice, and of PC hardware/network platforms. Working knowledge of NEC 2000/2400 PBX and Cisco Call Manager systems with the ability to do MAC work. Three years related experience required. Good communication skills. Bachelors Degree required. Experience working in a college environment a plus.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
