STRONG SECOND-HALF SHOOTING SENDS DOMINICAN PAST MEN’S BASKETBALL, 104-93

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - The Dominican College men's basketball squad shot 58.6 percent (17-of-29) from the floor and 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from beyond the arc in the second half on Wednesday night to defeat Molloy College, 104-93, at the Hennessy Center in Orangeburg, N.Y. With the decision, the Lions fell to 1-1 on the year. As for the Chargers, they improved to 2-1 overall.

WAFULA RECEIVES ECC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK ACCOLADES

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. – The East Coast Conference released its weekly men’s basketball award recipients on Tuesday morning, and freshman forward Matt Wafula was named the league’s first rookie of the week for the 2008-09 campaign. He was a key cog on Saturday in a 72-67 come-from-behind victory at Caldwell College.

LARKIN AND PETERSON POST FIRST-PLACE RIDES AS EQUESTRIAN WRAPS UP FALL SEASON AT COLUMBIA SHOW

LEONIA, N.J. – Freshman Megan Larkin and senior Danielle Peterson claimed first-place ribbons in the open fence and beginner walk-trot-cantor, respectively, on Sunday as the Molloy College equestrian team took part in the Columbia University Show at the Bergen Center in Leonia, N.J. The Lions recorded a score of 20 in their final competition of the fall season.



ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Ahead 49-46 with just over one minute to go in regulation, the Molloy College women’s basketball team was a flawless 6-for-6 from the free-throw line to pick up a 55-48 win against American International College, which was the Lions’ second-straight win to start the season, on Monday night at Quealy Gymnasium in Rockville Centre, N.Y.

Hutchinson collected 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Wafula posted 18 points and 10 boards.

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Matthew Badamo notched a new school clocking in the 10k on Sunday morning with a mark of 34:46.40 to lead the Molloy College men’s cross country team to an 18th-place run at the NCAA Northeast Regional Cross Country Championships. They were held at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. This was the second go that he had accomplishing the feat after doing so on October 18 at SUNY Albany.
