When Assemblywoman Earlene Hooper, the Deputy Speaker of the New York State Assembly, found out that she was one of those featured on the Social Work Department bulletin board highlighting famous and high ranking, social work professionals, she called and said she wanted to come see for herself. Therefore, on January 2, 2014, Deputy Speaker Hooper came to Molloy College and met with members of the Social Work department to express her gratitude for being recognized in this way.
Social Work students prepare boxes of donations for a recent Midnight Run - a service opportunity that benefits the homeless of New York City. Sponsored by Molloy Campus Ministries, the Social Work department is a great contributor to the cause, not only donating items but many of the Social Work students volunteer to go on the runs, which travel around Manhattan throughout the night distributing food, clothing and necessities, returning to campus in the early morning hours.
