Elisa Ruhl Rapaport, Ph.D.
Education & Research Interests:
Dr. Elisa Rapaport received her Ph.D. as the George F. Hourani Fellow in Ethics at the University at Buffalo, SUNY. Before Dr. Rapaport began teaching at Molloy College in 2007, she taught philosophy at the University at Buffalo, SUNY Old Westbury and Medaille College. She is interested in the social and personal motivations that prompt emotional response, reasoning, and ethical decision-making, particularly in the health care setting. Other interests include personal identity, communitarian ethics, and moral agency.
Dr. Rapaport is an elected representative of Faculty Council and directs the Center for Social and Ethical Concerns at Molloy College. She is active with the American Philosophical Association and the Society for Women in Philosophy. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Siena Women's Center, the Walt Whitman Birthplace Association, and American Forests. She a member of the National Council of the Tiffany Circle Society of Women Leaders with the American Red Cross and is the founding Faculty Advisor for the Red Cross Club on Molloy's campus. She recently led a group of Ethics students on a spring break service learning trip to New Orleans.
