What I am working on
I am investigating the use of recent developments in computer technology to enhance student-learning.
I am working on the use of stories to present mathematical ideas for the enrichment of elementary school children.
Each student learns differently and has different interests, and so, I incorporate a variety of teaching methods and classroom interventions to motivate students and reinforce ideas. Before each lesson, I evaluate the best ways for students to learn the material; I concentrate on "how" as well as "what" to present to my students.

I have extensive business experience in the application of computers and mathematics in industry, having held management positions in Information Technology at Hoffmann-La Roche, IBM, and Avis Budget Group. For ten years at Avis Budget and formerly Avis Rent A Car, I was Vice President of Decision Technology and led the development and implementation of their real-time, global revenue management system.
Computers are pervasive, and each day our use of them increases. A computer major has an exciting opportunity to develop new applications and new computer devices and thereby influence the way people will work, play, study, and communicate in the future.

Authored over twenty-five refereed articles in the fields of computer science and operations research, published in technical journals, proceedings, and book chapters. Presented invited papers on revenue management, simulation, network performance, user interface design, and object oriented programming at technical conferences sponsored by the ACM, AMS, IEE, IEEE, and INFORMS in the US, Canada, and Europe.
