Kappa Mu Epsilon - Chapter NY Rho

Kappa Mu Epsilon (KME) is a mathematics national honor society founded in 1931. The five goals of Kappa Mu Epsilon are to further interest in mathematics, emphasize the role of mathematics in the development of civilization, develop an appreciation of the power and the beauty of mathematics, recognize the outstanding mathematical achievement of its members and familiarize members with the advancements being made in mathematics. Chapter News

Congratulations to Amanda Kovacs, Alfeen Hasmani and Joanna Mantone on presenting their work at the 2013 KME National Convention hosted by Kansas Delta at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. Amanda Kovacs presented an overview of the Collatz conjecture.  Alfeen Hasmani spoke about the classification of field extensions of formal Laurent series over local fields of characteristic p, Joanna Mantone did a comparative study on upper level math courses and prospective high school teachers.

Chapter Events

We will be starting a weekly drop in for free tutoring session beginning on Thursday, November 7 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in K204 and ending on Thursday, December 5.  Any student currently taking a math course can come in for extra help.
