Residential Solar System ~ NABCEP certified
Course Number: RRS 1000

This course is designed for students interested in alternative solar energy. Through classroom lecture and a strong emphasis on hands-on activity, understand the cost effectiveness of solar energy, the science behind it and the safety requirements. Instructed by a NABCEP certified technician, this course will taught based on the learning objectives and standards set forth by NABCEP. Learn how to build, install, and maintain residential photovoltaic (PV) grid-tie systems. With the completion of the five day course, you will be able successful build and install your own residential PV system. With an extra two days, you have the option of taking review sessions for the basic NABCEP exam.

These two days are for all those who are interested in taking the NABCEP Entry-Level certification exam. Spend two days reviewing and training for the 60 questioned exam, administered during the last two hours of the last day. With the successful passing of the exam, you will receive a certificate through the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP). The cost of the exam is not covered by; the tuition. As a stepping stone, this certificate will allow you to continue your learning of PV installation. Through further experience and with the initial Entry-Level documentation, you can take the NABCEP Certified PV Installers certificate, recognition that many do not hold and that provides your employees with guarantee of your expertise and credentials.

EAT-1000 - Energy Audit Training: BPI Certification

Energy auditing is a home inspection with an emphasis on reviewing a homeowners' current energy consumption and making recommendations on how to reduce consumption and save money in the most cost-effective way. Gain knowledge of the "house-as-a-system" approach to home energy conservation and learn how to skillfully evaluate a home's interdependent components. The Building Performance Institute (BPI) has made a name for being the recommended certification for this type of home analysis. BPI offers nationally recognized training, certification, accreditation, and quality assurance programs in home performance contracting.

Introduction to Networking

This is a hands-on Introduction to Networking course. Learn the basic concepts and terminology of computer networking. In a logical, easy-to-follow format, learn how today's computer networks are built. Learn the terminology used throughout the networking industry and the underlying technologies used to transport data in campus and enterprise networks. This is a basic course for individuals with no networking background who need to understand the basic concepts and terminology of computer networking. Topics covered include: Compare and contrast WAN and LAN technologies; Explain the difference between bridging, switching, and routing as they apply to network; interconnection methods; Compare and contrast network interconnection devices such as hubs, bridges, and routers; Describe basic client/server concepts;
Describe basic Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) concepts; State the types of information available on the Internet; Bridging, Routing, and Switching; and Client/Server.

Electronic Burglar and Alarm Systems Security

Electronic Burglar and Alarm Systems Security course presents an overview of the alarm industry from past to present with the understanding and installation of systems and devices. The goal of this course is for students to become familiarized with Low Voltage electricity and understanding learning on vender non-specific equipment. Through various hands-on labs students will learn necessary installer techniques including the complete programming life cycle of standard control panels. Students will participate in the selection of appropriate wiring and security devices based on mock scenarios created by the instructor. Students will be involved in the installation of: analog and digital camera systems and digital video recording (DVR) for monitoring over an intranet or the internet, water, C02, smoke, glass-break, motion detectors. This course also covers the basics of applicable Electrical and Building Codes, System Design, and Access Control. All necessary tools are provided for lab use.

New York State Alarm License Course
Course Number: ALC1000
81 Hours, $2,975
This is a modularized 81 hour course designed for installers and technicians as well as sales personnel and supervisors within the Alarm Industry. This is an intensive course is designed in five modules logically divided so that a student may take the entire 81 hour course over five modules taught at nights and / or weekends. This course meets the New York Department of State educational requirements for burglar and fire alarm installers. All instructors are NYS certified.

Effective June 1, 2009, Title 19 NYCRR, Part 196 was amended to increase the qualifying education required for a New York State Security and Fire Alarm Systems Installer license. This amendment adds an additional 21 hour module, Service and Maintenance of Alarm Systems, increasing the education requirement from 60 to 81 hours.

Digital Home Technology Integration

Basics of home networking, audio and video installation, including telephone and VoIP, security and surveillance systems, home control management and troubleshooting. Students will gain hands on experience with the technology to install and maintain smart home technology.
Hands-on training for computer based integration and the automation of most house hold major appliances. Students will learn safety issues and requirements; how to use tools and equipment. Will also learn structured wiring, network and telephony, home theater, distributed video and audio, lighting, appliance control, irrigation, pool and spa control, security and access control systems and trouble shooting. Special emphasis is placed on how to install home theater systems and turning your home into a controlled audio and video environment. Students study video projection, surround sound (matrix, 5.1 and 7.1), room preparation, speaker placement and tuning, audio amplifiers, and manufacturer specifications.

Advanced PC Upgrading and Repairing

This course examines PCs in depth, outlines the differences among them, and presents options for configuring each system. In this course you'll find out exactly why your motherboard's chipset might just be the most important part of your PC and what can go wrong when you settle for a run-of-the-mill power supply that can't get enough juice to that graphics card you just bought. You'll also find in-depth coverage of technologies such as new six-core processors from Intel and AMD, processors with onboard graphics, graphics cards for the fastest 3D gaming, the latest audio cards, SATA 6Gbps and USB 3.0 in the latest motherboards, advances in Blu-ray and solid state drives, and more.

Upgrading and Repairing PCs focuses on several objectives. The primary objective is to help you learn how to maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot your PC system. To that end, Upgrading and Repairing PCs helps you fully understand the family of computers that has grown from the original IBM PC, including all PC-compatible systems. This book discusses all areas of system improvement, such as motherboards, processors, memory, and even case and power-supply improvements. It covers proper system and component care, specifies the most failure-prone items in various PC systems, and tells you how to locate and identify a failing component. You'll learn about powerful diagnostics hardware and software that enable a system to help you determine the cause of a problem and how to repair it.

When you finish this course, you should have the knowledge to upgrade, troubleshoot, and repair almost any system and component.

Introduction to Lift Trucks and Aerial Machines

This 24 hour course is designed for students who are interested in receiving a hands-on experience with forklift and aerial trucks. Training will include a discussion covering safety procedures compliant with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) federal regulations as well as the necessary precautions to take to avoid dangerous situations. Topics covered will include height and weight capacity, maintenance techniques, and proper truck inspections. Trained professionals will demonstrate control features, how to operate the machines and perform various activities. Following the demonstrations, students will receive practical training operating various these machines. With guidance from the instructors, students will perform hands-on tasks such as loading and unloading materials, transporting goods, and operating on various terrains.

Introduction to Private Branch Exchange (PBX)

In this intensive 40-hour course, students learn about telecommunication systems by familiarizing themselves with the features and operations of PBX hardware and installations and programming, with an emphasis on various IP business phone systems. Topics covered in this course include functionality of PBX in large corporations and small businesses, knowledge of trunking lines, setting up Wireless CS/PS application and networking systems, setting up voicemail activation commands and programming a variety of features. Equipment is provided for hands-on classroom use to maximize the learning experience. Introduction to Advanced Photography

Advanced Photography is perfect for anyone looking to take their beginner skills as a photographer to the next level. In this class, students will use their knowledge of camera theory and shooting techniques to enhance their photography skills. The instructor will take the students on outdoor photography sessions, giving them the opportunity to expand their creative visualization in assorted environments. Classroom time is allotted for students to edit their favorite images, as well as time for peer and instructor assessments of selected photographs. At the completion of the class, students will have created a rich and creative portfolio to share for personal or professional viewing.

Introduction to Cosmetology
Course Number: COS 1000

In this 30-hour interactive course, students will learn skin, hair and makeup techniques from professionals in a salon and spa environment. Topics addressed during the course will cover various beauty methods for rejuvenating skin and preventing dry and oily skin, as well as familiarizing students with the most common and well-known skincare products on the market. Students will cultivate rudimentary skills in makeup application, learn how to use colors that work best with individual skin tones and address ways to preserve these looks throughout the work day. A closer look into how to achieve blow-dry looks will be explored, in addition to learning simple hairstyles great for any occasion as well as practice the methods used in defending these hairstyles from unpredictable weather. By the completion of this course, students will have acquired the knowledge and confidence to replicate any look.

Holistic Core Strengthening for Body and Mind

Develop your inner strength, flexibility and energy with this course. Each class will help you develop key components such as flexibility, strength, breathing and energy. This class will integrate the practice of mind, body and spirit. You will exercise all parts of the body in the course of this practice. Students will improve posture, increase flexibility and strength, improve focus and concentration. After the conclusion of this class you will have positive effects on your health and mind.

HEO 1000 - Heavy Equipment Operation Level I
30 hours, $2,395.
This course covers safety and industry regulatory standards regarding operating heavy equipment. Actual time on equipment provides students with opportunities to learn practical operation, controls and instrumentation, steering and maneuvering, equipment inspection and maintenance. Vehicles include backhoes and forklifts. Students are encouraged to perform, attempt, and practice instructed simulations to demonstrate their understanding of proper operation. Program content can be adjusted to meet particular issues or concerns, and the instructor will routinely assist individuals with sticking points.

HEO 2000 - Heavy Equipment Operation Level II
30 hours, $2,395.
This course covers safety, government standards and regulations regarding operating earthmoving equipment. Actual time on equipment provides students with opportunities to learn practical operation, controls and instrumentation, steering and maneuvering, equipment inspection and maintenance, operating limitations, material stockpiling, grading and levels and trenching. Vehicles include pay loaders and excavators.

HEO 3000 - Heavy Equipment Operation Level III
30 hours, $2,495.
This advanced earth moving course covers safety, government standards and regulation regarding earthmoving equipment. Student will learn and practice more advanced skills on equipment vehicles including pay loaders, excavators and dozers.

CL 1000 - Captain's License - OUPV (6 Pack)
60.5 hours, $1,195.
The OUPV license enables you to carry 6 passengers for-hire, (that's where the name "6-pack" originates). Topics include piloting, Marlinspike seamanship, navigation rules, magnetic compass, characteristics of weather, tides and currents, vessel maneuvering and handling, small engine operations and maintenance, fire prevention and firefighting, emergency procedures, maritime law, shipboard management and training, ship's business, communications and lifesaving appliances. Course fee includes expediting of coast guard paperwork and licensing exam.
