Programs for Gerontology Studies
The Gerontology Program offers a minor in Gerontology. Minor requirements are described in the section of the Molloy College Catalog 2011- 13 on minors.
The mission of the Gerontology Program at Molloy College is to develop learning opportunities that provide students with information that will become the basis for an approach to older adults that celebrates aging. Through informed personal lifestyle choices and acquired professional competencies students will exhibit attitudes and behaviors that will address the critical needs of society increasingly defined by an aging population.
The Gerontology Studies Program goals are:
- Students will address ageism through study in multidisciplinary course offerings which utilize a biopsychosocial and spiritual perspective firmly grounded in the academic tradition of scholarly inquiry.
- Students will acquire specialized knowledge and skills to address issues of aging as preparation for career application, graduate studies or personal growth and development.
