Meet Our Faculty
Stephan T. Mayo, Ph.D.
Education and Experience:
Dr. Stephan T. Mayo received his M.A. and Ph.D. in philosophy from Fordham University. He taught philosophy at Brentwood College, Iona College and Fordham University at Lincoln Center before obtaining his position at Molloy College in 1974. In addition to teaching Bioethics in the Masters of Science in Nursing degree program at Molloy, Dr. Mayo has taught the Italian Renaissance in the Masters of Arts in Liberal Studies distance learning program for Excelsior College.
Research and Publications:
A recipient of a National Foundation Grant to work in the area of human and machine perception, Professor Mayo has published in the International Philosophical Quarterly, the Journal of Existential Psychology and Psychiatry and the Conference Report of the Merleau-Ponty Circle. He has participated in post-doctoral study at the renowned Kennedy Institute of Ethics at Georgetown University.
Professor Mayo has served on the Board of Directors of Bethany House, Inc.; has co-chaired HAVEN: the Molloy College/Bethany House Coalition for the Homeless; and has served as the Chair of the Molloy Pax Christi. He has traveled extensively during his time at Molloy, guiding students across Europe as recently as this past spring's trip to Vienna and Prague. Currently, he is the Faculty Advisor for the Philosophy Club.
