Program description

Experience the first Global Learning Program of your college career exploring the Renaissance and its most famous city - Florence. Florence, Italy is famous for its art, architecture, cultural heritage and the major role she played in the Renaissance and Humanist movements. The city is well renowned for its artists, Michelangelo, Leonardo daVinci and Sandro Botticelli, the political philosopher, Machiavelli, the poet Dante and the humanist philosopher, Petrarch. Join your classmates in the classroom while immersing in Renaissance philosophy, art and culture. Then experience the legacy of the famous Renaissance men when you travel to Florence, and see its famous churches, palaces and museums. There will be side trips to Pisa to see the Leaning Tower and Sienna with its powerful architecture and in Florence itself, visit the famous statue of David by Michelangelo. This fun and educational Global Learning experience will be a great culmination to your First Year Experience at Molloy.

For-credit option:
9 credits: $900 Global-Learning Fee plus tuition for 3 classes
6 credits: $1410 Global Learning Fee plus tuition for 2 classes
3 credits: $2275 Global Learning fee plus tuition for 1 class

Not for credit option: $2950 Global Learning fee

Costs Include: Round Trip airfare, hotel accommodations for 8 nights, sightseeing throughout, All museum admissions according to the itinerary, breakfast daily at your hotel.

Top off your freshman year of college exploring both Ancient and Renaissance cities of Italy. The famous proverb 'All roads lead to Rome' refers to the gigantic presence of Rome: considered in its own time to be the umbilicus mundi or the center of the world. Italy is famous for its art, architecture, cultural heritage, and the major role it played in the Renaissance and Humanist movements.

It is well renowned for its artists, Michelangelo and Raphael, the political philosopher, Machiavelli, the poet Dante, and the humanist philosopher, Petrarch. In the classroom you will immerse in philosophy, art, literature and culture. Then experience the legacy of both the Roman and Renaissance era when you travel to see its famous churches, palaces and museums. There will be side trips to Mt. Vesuvius the sight of the history volcanic eruption of 79AD, and the city of Pompeii which was lost in that fateful explosion. This fun and educational Global Learning experience will be a great culmination to your First Year Experience at Molloy.
