Getting Published

Course Number: WR-3000
Tuition: $195

You've got a way with words...and now you're ready to get yourself published. Learn where to find your niche, how to write a query letter or a synopsis of your article, short story or novel. Learn how to read editorial calendars and sell your idea for publication for income. Published novelist Maureen Cronin will take you through the steps to getting published. This course is generally offered for 8 sessions in the evening twice times a year: from October -December, and from June-July.

Creative Writing

Course Number: WR-2500
Tuition: $195

Have you got a story or a novel in you? Would you like to be able to write with persuasion and punch? Whether it's writing to sell your product or service, a short story or the ever-elusive novel, this course will cover all the bases of powerful, creative writing. You will also learn how to find your personal "voice," to edit your own work, to perfect and polish your style and most importantly, how to get past 'writer's block' with a simple creative brainstorming methods. Also includes information about the paper-to-print process, the new world of on-demand printing and the truth about agents and publishers. This course is generally offered for 6 sessions in the evening or on Saturdays three times per year: from October -December, from February-March and from April-May.

 New This Fall :BEING FUNNY ON THE WEB

      Have a funny bone but aren't ready yet for Open Mike night? The Web is an excellent vehicle for showcasing your sense of humor. Learn how to write funny content for websites, blogs, social media outlets like Twitter and Facebook, and even create your own website/blog. This class will also cover how to get your voice "noticed" on the web and eventually get paid for your funny writing. 

Instructor:  RISA LEWAK, MSEd, is a comedy writer. She is the author of the humor book, "Don't Stalk the Admissions Officer" and runs her own blog:www.admissionsangst.com She also is a writer for Nickelodeon's humor website for moms: www.nickmom.com .

Registration
Students should register for classes at least one week prior to the start of classes to insure enough time for you to get your confirmation and parking permit. However, you can register up until the day of class. Please note that some of our classes do close out and some of our classes do cancel, so you may be taking a chance of not getting into the course of your choice by waiting.
