Non-Profit Management Certificate Program
Click here for the schedule of classes.
The Non-Profit Management certificate program is a six-course program that provides students with the knowledge and skills appropriate for challenging professional positions in the growing non-profit sector. Non-profit organizations serve the interests of the community and comprise an increasingly significant portion of the American economy, spanning fields as diverse as:
- Human Services
- Health Care
- Education
- Foundations
- Professional Associations
- Environmental Management
- Criminal Justice
- The Arts
Program participants learn how non-profit organizations are established and administered, how they serve different segments of society, how they are funded and the role of philanthropy, how their programs are planned, budgeted and evaluated and how human resources, legal and ethical problems are resolved.
Professionals working in the non-profit sector, in a government or private setting would like to work or volunteer in the non-profit sector and students without professional experience who seek to prepare themselves for non-profit careers should attend.
Faculty
The program is presented by instructors who have extensive non-profit, business and fundraising experience, in addition to excellent teaching skills. Interactive classes and expert guest lecturers enable students to learn from others representing a wide range of non-profit organizations.
Locations
Courses will be offered at both our Rockville Centre campus at 1000 Hempstead Avenue, Rockville Centre and at Molloy's Suffolk Center, Route 110, 7180 Republic Airport, East Farmingdale. Some courses will be offered at both locations. Locations for each course will be found in the schedule of classes section.
Curriculum and Scheduling
Classes can be taken individually or in pursuit of a certificate. These courses are complete in themselves and require no prior knowledge in the specific area. However, it is suggested that for those students taking courses towards the certificate, the core course: "Introduction to Nonprofit Management," should be taken first. Each course meets once a week in the evening for two to seven weeks. Courses are graded pass/fail.
Most of the courses, including the core course, “Introduction to Nonprofit Management”, are offered twice a year, in the fall and in the spring. However, some courses are only offered once per year. The semester(s) that a course will offered can be found after the course title in the listing below.
Not sure if this program is right for you? Unsure that this is even the right career for you? If so, then you should attend our free seminar, "Your Career in Nonprofit Management: Find Out How You Can Make a Difference". The seminar is offered at various times during the year in the evening, usually in May, September and in January.

Certificate Requirements
To earn the Certificate in Nonprofit Management, each student is required to successfully complete six courses: the core course, three required courses and two elective courses.
No sequence is required; however, for those without previous experience, we recommend beginning with the core course, as it will provide you with an overview of the basics of nonprofit management. Once all courses are completed, the student must notify the Division of Continuing Education and Professional Development at Molloy College to issue you your certificate.
