Facilitating Learning Relationships with Your Child: Using DIR/Floortime-based Music Therapy: A Lecture by Dr. John Carpente as part of The Rebecca Center Lecture Series will be given on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, 6:30 p.m. -8:30pm in the Public Square Multipurpose Room. Attendees will learn about the DIR/Floortime Model and how to foster engagement and communication with children with developmental disabilities. This lecture will provide an introduction to the DIR/Floortime Model and how it is applied to Music Therapy practice. The lecture will also focus on understanding a child's individual differences and will provide attendees with tips and techniques to use at home. The program is designed for professionals and parents alike. Admission is $25 and is FREE to Molloy students, faculty, and families of The Rebecca Center. Wine and cheese will be served. Master of Science Degree in Music Therapy

Molloy College is proud to offer a new Master of Science degree in music therapy. It is the first and only music therapy graduate program on Long Island and is designed to prepare students for advanced clinical practice in music therapy and music psychotherapy, supported by studies in research, ethics and diverse models of practice.

Molloy's program is intended for professional music therapists, as well as musicians with degrees in related fields who are interested in using the unique power of music to promote health and well-being in the lives of children and adults with special needs. Completing this degree fulfills the educational requirements for a New York State license in creative arts therapy.
