Institute Descriptions and Faculty Bios
The Institutes are designed to prepare teachers for the College Board's advanced placement curriculum. Participants will gain experience with the concepts and goals of the A.P. Courses and their corresponding examinations. The Institutes will address curriculum, pedagogy and technology as supported by national standards and the College Board.
Each workshop will be led by College Board-certified A.P. consultants and will provide participants with the experiences necessary to successfully teach an advanced placement course in their discipline.
Class activities include:
- Curriculum planning
- Revising your course
- Class discussions
- Scheduling and time management
- Textbooks and other resources
- Testing and evaluation in an A.P. course
- Understanding the structure, content, and grading of the A.P. exam
- Reviewing past A.P. exams
- Scoring rubrics
- Sharing ideas and experiences with other teachers.
Each Institute is limited to 25 participants, except Institutes where a lab is involved and then the limit is 12-16 participants depending upon the size of the lab. Qualified applicants will be accepted on a first come / first serve basis. The registration deadline is three weeks prior to the start date of each Institute. Late registration may be possible if space and materials are still available.
Each Institute is scheduled on an intensive, one-week format, Monday - Thursday from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. each day, You must attend each day to receive in-service credit.
Complimentary continental breakfast and lunch will be served each day.
