Here’s the lesson plan: Our Education Department will develop your competency in content knowledge, preparation, instructional delivery, classroom management, student development and assessment, collaboration and reflective and responsive practice.
We will fire up your passion for teaching. We are proud to say that Molloy College teachers are characterized by their depth and breadth of knowledge in the academic content areas and in professional education. In short - we educate some of the finest educators.

As a college, we provide you with faculty who are committed to your success. Their expertise and dedication will guide you to be an effective teacher, a competent classroom manager and a responsive observer of a diverse student population. Education is a multi dimensional profession, so to help you better understand the challenges of the contemporary classroom, we will guide you through the philosophical, historical and sociological foundations of education. These ABC’s of education will form a strong knowledge base that will serve you well throughout your teaching career.

At Molloy College, our small class size will allow you to be closely guided, supervised and assessed during course work and field experience. This hands-on approach will assure that you develop appropriate professional skills. We stress rigorous teacher preparation and will ignite your intellectual curiosity through our course work. You can also count on us to incorporate a computer technology component into your education, to ensure that you are PC savvy.

Our programs of study will set you on your way to fulfilling your dream of being a teacher. We offer programs of study in Childhood Education, Childhood Special Education, Adolescence Education and Special Education and special programs like Music Education, Pre K – 12 and Visual Arts Education Pre K - 12.

Unique Offerings

In today's world, graduates with skills and talent in emerging areas of study are more valuable than ever. At Molloy, we pride ourselves on giving our students the opportunity to explore these new and exciting fields. Our unique program in Music Therapy is the only B.S. program on Long Island that is approved by the American Music Therapy Association. Molloy's Music Therapy program combines both music course work to develop your musicianship skills, and clinical experiences using music therapy for children and adults with special needs. Earn your bachelor of science while learning the necessary theoretical knowledge, practical techniques and clinical experience required to use music as a therapeutic modality with children and adults having special needs. The program culminates in an exciting clinical internship during your senior year to prepare your for real life work experience
