Programs Fall 2014

Irish Language and Gaelic Culture Classes 
Using Progress In Irish and Buntus Cainte Lessons, students enrolled in Molloy's Irish Studies Language Program will be able to progress from true beginner to advanced Irish speaker while learning Gaelic Culture.  Total of 8 levels will be required to receive certificate of completion.  

  

Level 1 Beginners I - True Beginners (no previous Irish) - 12 classes ($160, children 25% discount $120)
Saturdays:  9/27 through 1/17/15 (no classes on 11/1, 11/29, 12/20 and 27, 1/3/15) 10:30 am - 11:50 am

Level 2 Beginners II - 12 classes ($160, children 25% discount $120)
Saturdays:  9/27 through 1/17/15 (no classes on 11/1, 11/29, 12/20 and 27, 1/3/15)   12:30 pm - 1:50 pm 

Level 3 Beginners III -  12 classes ($160, children 25% discount $120)
Saturdays:  9/27 through 1/17/15 (no classes on 11/1, 11/29, 12/20 and 27, 1/3/15) 2:00 pm - 3:20 pm

Level 4 Beginners IV - 12 classes ($160, children 25% discount $120)
Saturdays:  9/27 through 1/17/15 (no classes on 11/1, 11/29, 12/20 and 27, 1/3/15) 3:30 pm - 4:50 pm

Level 5 Intermediate I -  12 classes ($160, children 25% discount $120)
Saturdays:  9/27 through 1/17/15 (no classes on 11/1, 11/29, 12/20 and 27, 1/3/15) 2:00 pm - 3:20 pm 

Level 6 Intermediate II -  12 classes ($160, children 25% discount $120)
Saturdays:  9/27 through 1/17/15 (no classes on 11/1, 11/29, 12/20 and 27, 1/3/15) 12:30 pm - 1:50 pm

Level 7 Advanced I -  12 classes ($160, children 25% discount $120)
Saturdays:  9/27 through 1/17/15 (no classes on 11/1, 11/29, 12/20 and 27, 1/3/15) 10:30 am - 11:50 am

Level 8 Advanced II -  12 classes ($160, children 25% discount $120)
Saturdays:  9/27 through 1/17/15 (no classes on 11/1, 11/29, 12/20 and 27, 1/3/15) 9:00 am - 10:20 am

Each level is $160; discounts available for multi-family registration and seniors. Register for an upper level and you can take a refresher at the lower level.  Scholarships also available.

Culture/Lectures/Entertainment
Músaem an Ghorta Mhóir / Ireland's Great Hunger Museum
Sunday, October 12, from 11 a.m. until approximately 5 p.m.

On Sunday, October 12, the Irish Studies Institute, its members and friends will journey to Músaem an Ghorta Mhóir, Ireland's Great Hunger Museum, at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. All are welcome to attend. The $40 cost per person will include bus fare and lunch. Admission is free to the museum, its film and its collection, but the museum welcomes donations. The bus will leave Molloy College's Wilbur Arts Building at 11 a.m.. We expect to return to Molloy about 5 p.m. Please contact Michelle Fradua at 516.323.4707 or mfradua@molloy.edu  to reserve a place.

  

Féasta Chultúr na nGael ar Shamhain / Feast of Gaelic Culture at Samhain
Saturday, November 1, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., Reception Room, Kellenberg Hall

All are invited to enjoy our free, hands-on workshops designed for you and your children to learn more about traditional Gaelic culture including Irish Language arts, dancing, Celtic and Gaelic history, tin whistle, Brehon Law, ancient Irish genealogy, bodhrán, uilleann piping, fiddling, and more.   If you or your organization would like to offer a workshop in any of the Gaelic traditional arts, please contact Jerry Kelly immediately at jerrykelly@att.net (day) or call him at 516-804-2968 (evenings).
