The general education requirements described in this catalog are for all students who have entered or will enter Molloy College since the fall  of 2002 or for continuing students who were approved for the revised general education requirement. More information on the general education requirements is provided in the section of the catalog for "Degree and Graduation Requirements".

General Education Requirements

Arts and Fine Arts (2 out of 3 disciplines) - 6 credits required:

PED 190 fulfills requirement for students with a medical excuse.

All childhood education majors must take PED 125. Adolescence education majors and education majors in special subjects - music education or visual arts education may take any 1 credit course from the ceneral education PED list.

Core courses - 4 credits required:

This listing of courses represents the course numbers used in this catalog. Various departments have renumbered some courses. Courses taken under past catalog numbers that are the same course will satisfy the requirement. Refer to the course description section of the catalog to verify old and new numbers.

The required general education courses will also count towards meeting the liberal arts and sciences requirements, as noted in the "Degree and Graduation Requirements" section of the catalog. Non-liberal arts and sciences courses may not be substituted to meet general education requirements.

NOTE: Education majors should take specific courses for the revised general education and education majors' additional liberal arts and sciences-related requirements to satisfy both the general education requirement and New York state requirements for teaching certification, as noted in the education program section of the catalog and under consultation with their advisors.
