Strikeout Against Cancer Day
As the Molloy College softball team hosts Philadelphia University at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex on April 15, the Lions will be battling breast cancer as well. The two teams will wear pink tee-shirts during warm-ups, as part of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's annual "Strikeout Against Cancer Day", which aims to raise funds and awareness about the deadly disease.
The NFCA has worked with the Strikeout Cancer Initiative for over 10 years, raising tens of thousands of dollars, and increasing awareness about breast cancer. The American Cancer Society's powerful network of organizations, including Strikeout Cancer, is committed to achieving the greatest possible impact on decreasing cancer incidence and mortality, as stated on the "Strikeout" website.
Prior to the day of the game, the Lions will be collecting pledges from family and friends within the Molloy community. Each strikeout recorded in the April 15th doubleheader will result in a 100% donation to the American Cancer Society.
If you would like to make a donation to help strikeout cancer, please send all pledge requests to Office Coordinator, Shannon Fabian, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
