Newsday: Molloy College 2013 commencement
By Olivia Winslow
Sister Mary Hughes, prioress of the Sisters of St. Dominic, told graduates, "You've been taught to give service to the world. . . . Study is integral to the life of one educated in the Dominican tradition. Study calls us to a relentless search for the truth. Keep listening, even when the opinion is not one that we hold, and it requires that we be attentive to the events of our world and the life of this earth to hear what they have to teach us. Regardless of your major, these themes have been the underpinning of your curriculum, as well as the elements fostering your social activities. . . . You have been part of something very special here at Molloy. Graduates, you leave Molloy with a special kind of degree. Remember that fact, and use it to go build a certain kind of world in which we all want to live."
