In Long Island Conversations Jim Paymar interviews Pulitzer Prize-winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin, a native Long Islander who grew up in Rockville Centre and graduated from South Side High School.
During the interview, which was taped at Molloy College in Rockville Centre, Goodwin shares how growing up on Long Island influenced her best-selling memoir Wait Till Next Year and ignited her passion for American political history; her book Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln became the basis for Steven Spielberg's 2012 Academy Award-winning film Lincoln.
Goodwin also reveals her experiences while penning her next book, The Bully Pulpit: Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and the Golden Age of Journalism, which will be released in November 2013.
