Mary Ann Tuttle, B.S., M.S. P.D. '61

Awarded to a Molloy alumnus who demonstrates the true sprit of the College mission, and whose professional career is characterized by a series of outstanding achievements.

Mary Ann Tuttle, a 1961 graduate of Molloy College has actively remained involved in Molloy's growth, expansion and as a participant/member in a myriad of college activities, affairs and committees since her graduation. She is most appreciative to Molloy for having presented many opportunities to foster and maintain concepts of individual accountability and an understanding of abstract and creative thinking through delineation and meaningful interactions on a humanistic level. Her studies at Molloy College also successfully helped in coordinating her professional and administrative skills so that a higher level of leadership in today's progressively animated educational environments could be realized.

Mary Ann served as the Alumni President for ten years and was a member of the Board of Trustees for 21 years. She has been bestowed with the honor of Trustee Emerita for which she is most grateful. During her tenure as Board Member she served as Chairman of the Future Directions Committee, which researched and explored the change to co- education of the college, Executive Committee, Academic Committee, and the Development Committee.

Mary Ann's many years of progressively expanded responsibility and diversification in the world of academia has given her an expertise in the areas of Instruction, Educational Administration, Supervision, Public Relations, Federal / State Grant Writing, Communication Skills, Budgetary Funding and Educational Administration. Her career has included that of Classroom Teacher, Director of Gifted Education, Alternative Education Principal of a Middle and High School and Adjunct Professor.

While working in education, Mary Ann earned a Master of Science Degree in Educational Administration and a Diploma of Advanced Study in Instructional Communications and Educational Administration from Hofstra University. Related certifications were also obtained from University of London, London, England, University of Southern Maine, Freeport, Maine, C.W. Post, Greenvale, N.Y. and Adelphi University, Garden City, N.Y.

Mary Ann's research publications include being appointed staff writer for President Reagan's Commission on Excellence in Schools titled: A Nation at Risk, an Inter- Collegiate Report on College and University Co-Education, New York State Education Department Health Guide for Schools and many other articles and reports.

Many honors and recognition has been accorded to Mary Ann including the President's Medal, Veritas Medal, and Woman of the Year Medal, Outstanding Woman in America, Jenkins Award, Awards of Achievement from Hofstra University and Adelphi University and many others.

Mary Ann is most thankful to God and Molloy College to have this prestigious Award presented to her and feels that it is part of her mission to publicly relate what a great place Molloy College is.
