Assistant Director of Human Resources for Talent and Communication

Reports to the Director of Human  Resources/Title IX Coordinator

Responsibilities

The Assistant Director is responsible for expanding the training, development and mentoring opportunities and programs designed to develop a high caliber and service oriented staff as well as for coordinating the internal communications to Molloy employees including coordinating. creating and promoting a broad range of content via multiple communication vehicles and channels.This position will  drive employee understanding of the Molloy mission so that employees feel supported and become actively engaged and motivated by and able to articulate and share the Molloy story and their role in the organization's mission.

Detailed responsibilities

With the input of the Director and all levels of college leadership expand, implement and evaluate a comprehensive training and development program for Molloy College's employees and supervisors including:

  • Develop creative training programs that; provide employees with new skills and value added outcomes, incorporate College culture and mission and develop a future-oriented-vision for the College and its departments, especially in the areas of communication, time management, customer service, interpersonal relations and supervisory and leaders hip skills;
  • The selection of workshop topics, training methods, speakers and facilitators, coordination of all details of developmental events, as well as determining which programs are mandatory and which are voluntary and following up on attendance as necessary;
  • Coordinating compliance-based training activities;
  • Define, manage and execute the internal communication across the College to create a more engaged, informed and knowledgeable workforce.
  • Utilize a broad range of communicat ions methods including; email, social media, articles, podcasts, videos to communicate needed information to employees, publicize HR initiatives, information and events
  • Partner with College managers to shape a culture characterized by high performance, learning and growth; plan, develop and implement customized department and/or work group specific training when specific needs, opportunities or issues arise.
  • Assist  in the planning and coordination of new employee orientation events, trainings and materials,
  • Conduct or facilitate workshops or training sessions as appropriate.
  • Participate in administrators' meetings and attends other meetings, such as human resource related seminars.
  • Maintain the highly confidential nature of human resources work while conveying a congenial, positive and professional image for the department and its customers;
  • Complies with all college policies and procedures.


Education and experience

Bachelor's degree in business, human resources or related field. A minimum of 3 years experience planning, organizing and executing training workshops for adult learners.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge:  Knowledge of federal and state laws and practices, knowledge of and contacts with employee development resources and personnel and knowledge of standard human resource practices and procedures.
  2. Skills: Proficient in social media, Power Point and other presentation  software, excellent presentation skills, strong intercultural communication skills, effective oral and written communication skills.
  3. Abilities: Excellent organizational and leadership abilities. Ability to think creatively and plan in the context of institutional goals, contribute as team member, outgoing personality and comfortable with public speaking.
