Chairperson, Theatre Arts Department

Molloy College, a private institution of higher education in the Catholic and Dominican tradition, is accepting applications for Chairperson of its Theatre Arts Department.  This faculty appointment is a full-time tenure-track position.  Among other responsibilities, the candidate is expected to provide creative and collaborative leadership and vision to program and curricular development. An M.F.A. is required, though a Ph.D. is preferred, in the discipline or allied field. Prior experience in the area of music theatre arts is needed.

The successful candidate will be a dedicated professional who possesses a commitment to undergraduate teaching, excellent organizational, administrative and communication skills, and the ability and desire to work with a diverse student body.  The candidate is also expected to have professional experience in performance, directing, or choreography.

Position involves:

  • Ability to organize and oversee an academic department in collaboration with a professional musical theatre conservatory (CAP 21) located in Manhattan;
  • Collaboration with music and theatre arts professionals in the New York Metropolitan area to arrange studio/internships for students;
  • Recruitment, academic advisement, collaboration on departmental activities, willingness to serve on college-wide committees, a commitment to on-going scholarship through publications and presentations at conferences and/or professional performances.
